Hacerlo de pie...
COLOCADO POR: Ferdy
FECHA: 6 Mar 2007

¿No te cansas?

A problem with bicycle mittens
COLOCADO POR: Dick King
FECHA: 2 Mar 2007 (originally appeared in first quarter, 1995)

I have a pair of "lobster claws"; thickish bicycle gloves which hold my index and middle fingers in one sleeve, and my pinkey and ring finger in a second.  This keeps all my fingers warmer.

However, my daughter asked how I could bike in these gloves.

I explained to her that you don't really need much manual dexterity to ride a bicycle.

She said...

What do you do if a driver cuts you off?

RIP?

In a small Midwestern town, two gays died of AIDS.  The mortician was afraid of catching the disease from the corpse, so he refused to prepare the bodies for burial.  So, finally, in desperation, the hospital called on the local taxidermist.  He said, "Sure, bring 'em on over, I'll take care of 'em."

So an ambulance driver carts the bodies off to the taxidermists shop.  When he arrives, the taxidermist asks the ambulance driver "Do you want them mounted?" to which the driver replies "Nah, just holding hands......."

COMENTARIO: Bueno... ¡ejem!... siempre podría ser peor...

My doctor told me I have a bad case of hypochondria.  Thankfully, he wrote me a prescription for this stuff called Placebo.  So far, it seems to have helped.  But you never know . . .

Another thing for boomers to look forward to....

I received a call from my mother-in-law (MIL) asking me to come over to configure my severely hearing-impaired, 85 year old father-in-law's (FIL) DSL modem / wireless router.  Seems that the wireless connection wasn't working, and they had to use wired connections on her desktop and his laptop to access the net.  They were sharing one computer desk, and the elbow bumping was getting tiresome.  After several hours, and many calls to tech support, all was repaired and working again.

As I got ready to leave, I told my now very happy FIL that the best part was he could now leave my MIL in the computer room and surf the net for porn from his family room recliner.  Of course, there were chuckles all around as my wife and I left for home.

Two days later, I received the following e-mail from my FIL (edited to remove the names, but otherwise verbatim).

"Thanks again, ED.  While MIL was in the back room on the desk top, I was here surfing for porn, as you suggested.  Found some great videos, but couldn't understand them.  They weren't captioned!!!  FIL"

Annals of Legal Etiquette
COLOCADO POR: Mitchell Wand
FECHA: 18 Mar 2007 (originally appeared in fourth quarter, 1995)

My wife received a copy of the following at her law firm.  It purports to be true.  For those of you who don't know, a "deposition" is a transcript of pre-trial testimony.  These transcripts tend to be thick documents.

To: all attorneys

Subject: Depositions and Their Use

A friend sent me the following portion of a transcript, which was confirmed with one of the counsel involved (Ms. Olschner) and subsequently posted on Lexis Counsel Connect.  The transcript is from Birmingham, Alabama, although the use of a deposition of a party opponent "for any purpose" is also in the federal rules.  We have no word on what had happened immediately prior to this exchange:

*The Court:* Next witness.

*Ms. Olschner:* Your Honor, at this time I would like to swat Mr. Buck in the head with his client's deposition.

*The Court:* You mean read it?

*Ms. Olschner:* No, sir. I mean to swat him [in] the head with it.  Pursuant to Rule 32, I may use the deposition "for any purpose" and that is the purpose for which I want to use it.

*The Court:* Well, it does say that.

(Pause.)

*The Court:* There being no objection, you may proceed.

*Ms. Olschner:* Thank you, Judge Hanes.

(Whereupon Ms. Olschner swatted Mr. Buck in the head with a deposition.)

*Mr. Buck:* But Judge...

*The Court:* Next witness.

*Mr. Buck:* We object.

*The Court:* Sustained.  Next witness.

End transcript.

COMENTARIO: ¿¿Y??

The Soft Sell

While listening to the news tonight, a phrase from what seems to be the mandatory ED commercial caught my ear.  The ad said 36-hour Cialis "means you can be flexible."

Huh?  I thought "being flexible" was the problem to begin with.
